At the request of many I've just uploaded a video series to The Comfort Zone introducing my go to bits of this past year. I also took the opportunity to unveil a new bit I added to my collection earlier this year that has been a game changer for me.
I am no bit specialist and I have no intention on pretending to be. I believe that too many factors come into play that make it impossible generalize many of the characteristics of different bits. It's unbelievable how the slightest change can make a huge difference so my BEST advice is when you find a bit that feels just right and you keep coming back to, keep it!! It will be hard to replace, even with the same one.
With that said, among the large amount of bits by various makers, I seem to always fall back on the bits designed and manufactured by Metalab. My family has been involved in the development and testing of most of their western bit collections so I grew up riding these bits. No wonder they have been the most copied bits by other makers since over 20 years.
Towards the end of the video, I introduce a new addition to my 2020 collection. This bit quickly became my go to bit for my top horses and has earned a spot in my top 5 all time favorites!
